How it started
In 2013 I received a phone call from a potential client for YML Cleaning and Event Services, the first company we opened in 2009. This occurred during a work-day at the bank which I had been employed 15 years at the time. The client asked for a portable restroom trailer, and I said to myself, “what is that”? During the call, I told her we will look into it, following my motto, “never say no”! When the call ended, I immediately googled portable restrooms. Without hesitation, I said, this can be a great addition to our existing company, YML Cleaning and Event Services. Our first company had been in operations for four years at the time. After extensive research and countless hours, we received our first trailer a year later and the rest is history!

It is About You!
A year after I decided to leave my successful banking career and told myself that if it did not work out, I could always go back to banking since I had my experience and formal education. The moral of the story is not about opening a business and succeeding. As I always say, it is not about the product or service offered, that is completely secondary. Do you know what is the primary reason a client reaches out to your business and how you grow, it is about you! In business, what you create, how you are perceived, the energy you put out into the world, and your professionalism are key.
Staying Focused and Engaged
In the business world you are the intangible, the power that cannot be touched. It is the way you educate yourself in every sense, persevere, stay constantly engaged, innovate, and work 24/7 to make it happen! It is about consistency, and that is a difficult concept for many companies to maintain. In good days and bad days, slacking off is never an option. There are thousands of plumbers, electricians, counselors, attorneys, etc. The way you differentiate yourself from whatever category your business is in is by finding your competitive advantage. This advantage is defined by so many factors that are intangible, cannot be replicated and only you can figure them out. The question is, “how do you figure them out”? Success is a combination of many factors that need to come together.
