Both Miami and Orlando are popular tourist destinations in Florida. However, with current transportation, getting between the two cities can be difficult. The Brightline Train hopes to fix this problem by the year 2020.
In November of 2015, All Aboard Florida revealed the new plan to connect Orlando to Miami by Train. The project consists of a new fast train service that will connect Orlando to Miami in about four hours. The timeframe for this new project was announced as about 5 years from beginning to end. The announcement of the name of the rail service and train models served as a sign of the future ahead. Stations for the line are located in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Orlando. The first three cities make up phase one of the project, while Orlando will be added in a second phase.
Despite some difficulties in the project beginning on time, Brightline should begin running between Miami and West Palm Beach by the end of 2017. All Aboard Florida estimates that by 2020, the route will go all the way to Orlando. The plan is, that some of the traffic on Interstate 95 will decide to make use of the Brightline Train Services. This may help with traffic problems in the region.
